National Remote Sensing Agency - National Remote Sensing Agency is an autonomous institution supported by Department of Space of India. It is responsible for acquisition, processing and supply of data from remote sensing satellites.

Remote sensing - In the broadest sense, remote sensing is the measurement or acquisition of information of an object or phenomenon, by a recording device that is not in physical or intimate contact with the object. In practice, remote sensing is the utilization at a distance (as from aircraft, spacecraft, satellite, or ship) of any device for gathering information about the environment.

European Remote-Sensing Satellite - European Remote-Sensing satellite (ERS) was the European Space Agency's first Earth-observing satellite. It was launched on July 17, 1991 into a Sun synchronous polar orbit at a height of 782–785 km.
