Basal ganglia - The basal ganglia are a group of nuclei in the brain associated with motor and learning functions. However, there is no single definitive function that can be assigned to the mammalian basal ganglia.

Striatum - The striatum is a subcortical part of the brain consisting of the caudate nucleus and the putamen. It is part of the basal ganglia.

Lentiform nucleus - The lentiform nucleus or lenticular nucleus describes the putamen and the globus pallidus within the basal ganglia. It is a large, cone-shaped mass of gray matter just lateral to the internal capsule.

Fahr's syndrome - Fahr’s Syndrome is a rare, genetically dominant, inherited neurological disorder characterized by abnormal deposits of calcium in areas of the brain that control movement, including the basal ganglia and the cerebral cortex.
